Meals
Students may bring their lunches to school or eat a hot lunch in the cafeteria. All of the children eat together in the cafeteria, whether purchasing a lunch or bringing one. Please note that the school does not have microwaves for heating food or refrigeration for keeping students lunches cold, so please prepare accordingly.Purchasing Hot Lunch Menus for breakfast and lunch are sent home at the beginning of each month. Each child at McKinley is issued a lunch number for serving purposes. It is recommended that you deposit some money in the cafeteria for those just in case days. The price of a school lunch is K - 5th graders - $1.75; 6th to 8th graders - $2.25; reduced lunch - .35 cents. This price includes milk. Milk can be purchased separately for .25 cents. Breakfast may be purchased in the cafeteria from 8:00 8:20 a.m. every day for .75 cents and .25 cents for reduced breakfast.. Snacks Kindergarten and elementary school students often have snacks once or twice a day. The choice to offer these snack periods is up to the teacher. If your teacher provides these breaks, you will often receive a notice in the red communication folder asking for donations of snacks. Parents are asked to donate healthy snacks for the class and a list of suggested snacks will generally be included on the form. Treats for the class for birthdays can be arranged with your childs teacher. |
